Besides providing taste, color, and aroma, certain seasonings can also add health to your meals. Herbs and spices contain phytochemicals which are natural health promoting substances and have been found to protect us against diseases such as cancer and heart disease. So here’s to spicing up your meal and health!
Here are 4 herbs you can add for flavor and health.
Turmeric- is also called curcumin and may help protect against cancers including prostate, colon, skin, and oral cavity. It also may provide protection from heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and cataracts.
Rosemary- contains a compound called carnosol, which provides antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, as well as anti-carcinogenic agents. This can provide protection from heart disease, cancer, and may be helpful with decreasing painful inflammation with arthritis.
Oregano- contains Quercetin and may help protect against breast, ovarian, and endometrial cancers. It also provides antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown that oregano offers the most antioxidant activities of all herbs examined.
Ginger- Substances in ginger are believed to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and also can be used for treatment of nausea and motion sickness.

Boy, did I learn a valuable lesson! For about a year now I have been praising the quality and feel of True treadmills. To even a seasoned fitness equipment user a true treadmill feels fantastic with a smooth and quiet workout they provide one of the best treadmill experiences around. They have even received a number of positive reviews customers and authorities in the fitness industry.
The problem I just found out recently was that the True brand doesn’t use the best treadmill components so although initially the equipment might perform exceptionally well over time these parts can break down. The last thing you want is to have to fork $$$ for large repair bills after the warranty on the machines run out (1 year warranty for True treadmills).
You see…a lot of the customer reviews come from people who have had their treadmill for say 3 to 6 months and are happy with performance. You don’t often see a treadmill review where the testimonial states they have been using it for 3-5 years. In the case of True treadmills this might well be the case.

Do you ever wonder when you go to the doctor each time the receptionist ask you for your insurance card? I sure do. I went to the same doctor for 10 years seems they would know me by now or have made a copy of my insurance card. Have you ever read the sign that says payment due when services rendered, just to hear the lady ask you for your co-payment before you’ve even had the chance to sit down? Or how about after sitting for a long time in the waiting room, they call you back just to take your blood pressure than send you back out in the waiting room again. Or they call you back just to have you wait in another area. I have always felt this was a tactic to make you feel like your getting somewhere when your really not. How about while waiting, your Doctor happens to see you, and he does all he can do not to make eye contact with you, or if you do they act like your a perfect stranger. How about that study I heard where the average time actually spent with the doctor is about three minutes. I then have to ask myself the question, why am I waiting so long in the waiting room. Or how about the one when the pharmaceutical rep just walks in asking for the Doctor and they tell them to come on back. I guess those free game tickets, or the free day at the spa is really more important than my health. These are just some of the mysteries I have never figured out when going to the doctor.

What Works for Oral Health?

Recently, within the last seven days actually, I purchased a HydroFloss. A what? Well, it is sort of like a high powered waterpik that uses magnetized water.
Why? For starters, I’m tired of my dentist complaining about my gingivitis which has now become mild to moderate periodontal disease. Will a HydroFloss change that? I honestly don’t know, yet. Based on what I’ve read about them, it may be possible. I’m a skeptic by nature though, but I’m also curious enough to try out different things. Sometimes that strategy works for me and sometimes it doesn’t.
I’ve had a lot of problems with dentists over the years. I don’t believe that all dentists are completely honest. In fact, I had a dentist tell me that I had a ‘trouble spot’ that she wanted to drill into. I went to another dentist who didn’t appear to detect any problem or any ‘trouble spot’ at all. That was after waiting six months. If there was a problem that was going to get worse, it certainly didn’t do so.

FOLIC ACID ? AN OVERVIEW
Folic Acid, also know as Vitamin B9, assists in preventing certain birth defects of the spinal cord and brain known as neural tube defects (NTDs). Without a sufficient amount of Folic Acid the cells that form the baby’s brain and spine become deficient resulting in spina bifida (open spine) or anencephaly (undeveloped brain). There are over 4,000 births defects annually as a direct result of insufficient Folic Acid in the Mother’s body. Folic Acid should be taken prior to conception since these births defects begin in the first month of pregnancy.
Folic Acid also helps prevent other birth defects such as cleft palate, low birth weight and helps in the production of additional red blood cells needed to support the growth of the fetus. Other studies have show that Folic Acid helps in the prevention of heart disease, stroke and anemia. The Center for Disease Control recommends that all women of childbearing age consume 400 micrograms of Folic Acid daily and that once pregnancy is confirmed increase to 800 micrograms daily. The normal diet does not provide a sufficient amount of Folic Acid so supplementation is required.

Acid reflux is scientifically known as GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). It is a disease characterized by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus resulting to chronic symptoms or mucosal damage.
Acid reflux is often caused by temporary or permanent alterations in the lining that separates the esophagus and the stomach. Ineffectiveness of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) or a temporary LES relaxation connected with a hiatal hernia are just some of the common causes of acid reflux. The process can also lead to a backflow of gastric juices to the pharynx or mouth.
Among adults, the most common symptom of acid reflux is heartburn which is caused by the presence of acid in the esophagus. Heartburn is characterized by a painful burning sensation behind the sternum or breastbone. Another symptom or manifestation of acid reflux is esophagitis which is characterized by an inflammation of the lining of the esophagus which is also known as the mucosal lining. Esophagitis also causes swallowing difficulties and chronic pains in the chest area.

Attention Deficit Disorder is often difficult to diagnose in adulthood as it sometimes masked by relationship problems, mood disorders, substance abuse, employment issues, or other psychological disorders. It was previously believed that children and adolescents would grow out of ADD, but it has just been acknowledged in the last few decades that it persists into adulthood. Actually, 67% of children with ADD will continue to exhibit signs well into adulthood. ADD is very difficult to diagnose in adults and sometimes only occurs after a child of the adult is diagnosed and the genetic link is made.
How is Attention Deficit Disorder exhibited in adults? Actually, in much the same ways as in children.
