Aromatherapy Essential Oils - An Inheritance Well Acclaimed
by: Bryan Josling
The use of essential oils, which is derived from the pure essence of a plant, is not new. Though the term aromatherapy was coined only in the 1920s (by Gattefossé in 1928), people knew of aromatherapy essential oils from the prehistoric times. Starting from the Chinese to Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Persian and Indian civilizations, each have added to the science of essential oils and to aromatherapy as a whole.
Research still continues in the field of aromatherapy essential oils, with new developments being made in the field. Aromatherapy and essential oils are no longer limited to cosmetic or aromatic uses only. Many of the essential oils have been proved to have medicinal and therapeutic benefits too. Take lavender oil for instance. French chemist Gattefossé would have been unaware of the properties of lavender oil to give instant relief without any scar in cases of burn, until he burnt his hand and accidentally put his hand in the jar full of the essence of lavender. Similarly, there are a large number of essential oils that have medicinal properties. The ‘tulsi’ plant or Indian basil, distinct through its strong aroma and taste, is considered “the elixir of life” since it is thought to bring longevity. The use of the plant’s extracts is made to treat illnesses like headaches, inflammation, heart disease, and malaria. The essential oils derived from ‘karpoora tulsi’ have found use in the manufacture of herbal toiletry.

I hope this doesn’t sound too grandiose but you are about to read about the most successful health innovation in the last 100 years. As you read this article you may think of ways it can be of benefit for yourself.
Do you believe in miracles?
What if I told you there was a stunning new therapy that involves you simply tapping Chinese pressure points on your upper body and it can help with all of the following and a lot more besides:
weight loss, stopping smoking, depression, fears and phobias, anorexia, bulimia, self image, obsessive compulsion disorders, ADD, ADHD, asthma, shingles, panic attacks, dyslexia, emotional pain, physical pain, trauma, addictions, allergies, arthritis, high blood pressure, anger, PTSD, carpel tunnel syndrome, sexual dysfunction, diabetes, cancer, sports performance and jealousy.
What if I also told you this therapy often works where all else has failed and often works on things conventional medicine struggles with? Naturally you may think I had gone mad.

Begin a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program For a Heart Healthy Lifestyle
by: Maggie Lichtenberg
Two months after my open-heart surgery, through my cardiologist’s referral, I was cleared to begin a physician-sponsored cardiac rehabilitation program - a program of exercise and risk-factor education for individuals recovering from serious heart procedures and heart disease.
Some patients are healed enough to begin sooner, some later. The gym facility where I live in Santa Fe, NM, called the Center for Living Well, is spaciously housed in the basement of our one hospital. In the last thirty years, thousands of cardiac rehabilitation programs have sprung up far and wide in the U.S. alone, all featuring similar characteristics.
In my book, The Open Heart Companion: Preparation and Guidance for Open-Heart Surgery Recovery (Open Heart Publishing, 2006) I advise, “systematically increase your walking every day, to the point where you can visualize and look forward to the strength retraining and aerobic stamina offered in a good cardiac rehabilitation program. Once your doctor finally approves you for cardiac rehab, you will discover what may be a new experience, or the reawakening of an old pleasure — going to the gym!”

Warm Mist Home Humidifier Review
by: Clinton Maxwell
A home humidifier review is the best place to look for information before purchasing an appliance for your home. You have the choice between a whole house humidifier or a portable unit for use in the bedroom. Unless you live in a very dry climate, a single room humidifier should be sufficient.
A review of humidifiers is the best source of information before you start shopping for a unit for your home. Most reviews are separated by type of humidifier. The most common are cool mist or warm mist types. There are benefits to each type. Read about both before you shop.
Once you have decided on the type you want, read reviews of specific models. Reviews have a variety of sources from professional reviews, to consumer reviews. There are even some slick advertisers that are able to disguise their advertising to look like a review.
Consumer sources are great for information about how a particular unit has worked for others. However, they generally don’t give a comparison to other products. A professional review should be unbiased and often will give comparisons between different models. Read from a variety of sources to give you a good picture of a particular model.
Diabetes Awareness: The Downside… a New Wardrobe?
November 10, 2007
Here is some commonsense thinking:
I can’t understand why anyone who has diabetes wouldn’t exercise and watch what they eat.
The down side is that you may have to get an entire new wardrobe since exercise and healthy eating causes weight and size reduction.
When it happens, people tell you how great you look and that motivates you even more.
Other side effects: you’ll also sleep better and feel more rested than before you started walking and eating better.
I prefer walking outside, especially when the weather is nice. I even designed a walking path about 2.5 miles long around my neighborhood; part flat and part hilly.
You’ll find that a walking program helps more than your body.
“For me, walking time is good thinking time. Nobody is there to interrupt my thoughts. And even when I walk on the treadmill in front of the TV, I find it helps me get ready for the day.”
Exercise and healthy eating…. A powerful duo for diabetics!
Ask your doctor about diabetes and have your blood sugar checked several times a year.

The Anti-Aging Wonders of Hyaluronic Acid
November 9, 2007
ABC News has recently focused on the possible anti-aging benefits of hyaluronic acid, also known as Hyaluron or HA. In a story entitled, “The Village of Long Life: Could Hyaluronic Acid Be an Anti-Aging Remedy?”, the focus was on a villiage in Japan named Yuzuri Hara where people usually live a long time and often have perfect skin into their 80’s or even into their 90’s. More than 10 percent of the population of his village is 85 or older, which is about ten times the average in America.
Some studies suggest that the reason that residents Yuzuri Hara, known as “The Village of Long Life,” live such long and healthy lives is mainly due to the fact that the local diet that is unique to the village features a starchy vegetable which is particularly rich in HA. In fact a large pharmaceutical company in Japan began Research & Development on a pill supplement containing HA. When they tested the pills on one thousand individuals, around half of them reported smoother skin and even improved eyesight. Hyaluronic acid has also proven effective in lubricating arthritic joints as well, as certain studies have shown positive results from injections into the joints of Hyaluronic Acid, a component of the bodies own lubricant fluid, that may delay the need for a joint replacement.

The Must Know Info On Allergy
by: Ashely Farrar
Peanuts could lead you breathless, a bowl of pulses may cause swelling of the tongue and throat, or a fish preparation may lead to redness of skin and an incessant rash. The list is endless, and these are just a handful of the common allergies that people suffer from. While their occurrence may be common, what really makes the task difficult is that there is no cure for an allergy, and the only way out is by preventing the intake of food that causes allergy.
Simply defined, an allergy is intolerance of the immune system to specific foods. You are allergic to food when your body reacts adversely to it, thereby producing excess histamine, which triggers a cascade of allergic symptoms that can affect the respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, skin or cardiovascular system.
Although an individual could be allergic to any food, such as fruits, vegetables and meat, it’s protein-rich food that more than 80 per cent of the people are allergic to.
You could either be allergic to specific food items, or preservatives. In case of food, allergies are generally caused by protein rich food stuffs like peanuts, fish, egg, soy, wheat and pulses.

Get Control of Your Acne
by: Jonathan Leger
There are many varieties of acne and many different treatment plans. Technically called acne vulgaris, this skin disease affects millions of Americans annually. Nearly 85% of people develop acne at some time between the ages of 12-25 years.
Almost everyone suffers from outbreaks of pimples at some point in life, making acne one of the most common skin disorders. Understanding the facts about acne may be the first step towards finding a successful acne treatment and controlling your acne.
Many teenagers outgrow their acne, but it is common for some women to need treatment into their late thirties.
What Causes Acne?
No one knows for sure exactly what causes acne, or why it usually begins in adolescence. Since the medical knowledge about acne is still relatively small, many misconceptions and rumors about what causes acne exists. No one factor causes acne.
Acne lesions develop in the oil-producing structures of the skin called pilosebaceous follicles. Oil secretions build up beneath the blocked pore, providing a perfect environment for the skin bacteria Propionibacterium acnes to multiply uncontrolled. For unknown reasons skin cells of acne patients stick together in the pore (this may be made worse by grease, pomades, makeup, etc.).

Being overweight is difficult, and that is not just because people look down
on larger individuals. It is also difficult to find attractive clothes, make
large purchases, enjoy good health, play sports, and do all of the things so
many others can do easily and with little effort. Fortunately, for those
individuals who are overweight and cannot seem to find a way to lose the weight
through dieting or exercise, then weight loss surgery might be a viable option.
There are a wide variety of weight loss surgery options available as well, so
individuals interested in these procedures must do their research, talk to their
doctors, and think long and hard about the best procedure for them. Of course,
individuals should weigh the risks and benefits and make the wisest choice
regarding going ahead with weight loss surgery in the light of these results.
