A Diet Deficiency Today is a Clinical Event Tomorrow
June 22, 2007
For those of us that understand nutrition and it’s importance in our lives, this statement makes all too much sense doesn’t it?
Today, six out of the top ten causes of death are diet related and chronic degenerative diseases afflict over 120 million Americans. Cancer has moved from the eighth leading cause of death to number two, even after Richard Nixon’s “War on Cancer” spent thirty billion dollars attempting to find a cure. Diabetes has increased 700% since 1959.
Nearly 15 million American adults suffer from asthma and the Environmental Health Commission predicts that number will increase to 29 million by 2020. Twenty-one million Americans suffer from arthritis and approximately 50 million Americans suffer from autoimmune diseases, with 75 percent of these being female. Many of these autoimmune conditions were practically nonexistent thirty years ago.
Look at the average diet of children today–soft drinks, processed cereal, pizza, candy, fast food and their favorite and often only source of vegetables: french fries. Could this be why we are seeing a dramatic rise in ADHD, to the point where 8 million American children need to be drugged daily? Autism has gone from 1 in 10,000 children to 1 in 150 in just 10 years. Adult- onset diabetes is occurring at epidemic rates in children as young as eight.
What About Mesothelioma Prevention Legal System?

What About Mesothelioma Prevention Legal System?
by: Nick Collebechi
A lot has been said about what mesothelioma is, what mesothelioma lawyers can do and how can mesothelioma victims sue asbestos companies. It has also being explained in great detail what are the benefits for mesothelioma lawyers, the suing process and the amounts a victim can obtain when winning the case. What about asbestos companies? Were they really unaware of this kind of cancer? What about the government? Did it really have no knowledge whatsoever about what was going on? Shouldn´t this example warn us about how fragile certain legal structures are in practice and how we must fight for our rights?
I think that the best approach when dealing with this kind of issues is asking ourselves what have we done ourselves to promote preventive measures in order to avoid further mesothelioma cases. We do not certainly have the power to influence asbestos companies on our own but as active members of society we can fight for our rights and make extensive our concerns to local government authorities.

Turbulence Training- a Fat Loss Program
by: Lisa Collins
Turbulence training has been considered as the most effective fat loss training system in the world today and it works faster and more effectively than any other Fat loss program. Turbulence Training is the ultimate workout system developed by Men’s Fitness Training Adviser, Craig Ballantyne. This program helps you to lose fat, gain muscles and still maintain a lean body with a minimum workout of less than an hour 3 to 4 times a week. Turbulence Training is a proven way to melt fat faster, while protecting your skillfully developed muscles.
Turbulence training promotes a significant reduction in body fat and an increase in energy levels over a period 4 weeks in association with a proper diet plan. It is a program which demands a lot of energy which may allow you to have more strength than you had before the fat loss program. Turbulence training focuses on the burning of carbohydrates to fat, inorder to burn more calories after the workout is over. Turbulence Training focuses on resistance training and interval training. Both of these use carbohydrate as the main source of energy. So it’s obvious the workout is designed to burn carbohydrates during the training session. Turbulence training program’s post-exercise burning of carbohydrates attribute to the principle of anaerobic exercise. Therefore, when you exercise with intervals and heavy resistance training, your body uses more calories in the hours after exercise than it would if you did traditional cardio and lifted lighter weights. The heavy resistance helps in promoting protein yield and an enhanced body composition.
Five Secrets to Weight Loss

Five Secrets to Weight Loss
by: Margaret Paul, Ph.D.
Weight loss - such a “big” topic! Every month another book is out by another expert on weight loss. Everyone wants to know the secret to losing weight.
I certainly don’t have THE secret, but I do have some secrets, and I want to share them with you in the hope you find them helpful.
Weight used to be a major issue for me. Losing weight was never out of my thoughts, and I can’t tell you how many different diets, pills and programs I tried until I discovered some “secrets” that have worked for me for many years now.
So here they are. I hope they work as well for you as they have for me.
1. Change your focus from losing weight to achieving great health.
I grew up as a sickly child and I was a sickly young adult. I hated being sick and never having energy to do all the things I wanted to do. So I decided to learn about what creates great health.
Humulin or Lantus, Which Insulin For Your Child?
June 19, 2007
Humulin or Lantus? When my daughter, who was 8, was first diagnosed the Children’s Hospital that was treating her put her on an insulin program of short acting Humalog NPH and long acting Humalin N. You should have seen me that first day of training after a long night in the emergency room where she was diagnosed. I was a raving lunatic to begin with so my brain was mostly mush at that point. Add to that everything began with “H”. Mix this “H” with that “H” but first charge this “H” with air, then draw this “H” first followed by that “H” but make sure you roll this “H” between your palms and for crying-out-loud don’t shake that “H”. Anyway I guess osmosis worked and all of that information finally seeped in. We were officially diabetic now.
For those of you who may not be familiar with it, Humalog and Humalin (short and long acting insulins) are mixed in the same syringe and injected 3 times a day usually before meals. Your child is allowed a certain amount of carbohydrates for each meal that the doctor figures out based on age, weight, etc., and that’s your number. My daughter’s was 65 carbs max per meal and 35 max per snack. However your child hits their magic number that’s it. Whether it’s 65 slices of ham or half a pop-tart. Plus she had to eat 6 times a day at certain times everyday.
Get Back Your Pre-Pregnancy Abs With Side Planks
June 18, 2007
The foundation of fitness for a mom is her abdominal area. To moms a flat stomach is wonderful; a strong abdominal core is critical. The cool thing is, you can get both at the same time with side planks.
Side planks are great for toning, without enlarging, the obliques on the side of your abdomen. Strong oblique muscles also add powerful stability to your back. Asthetically, side planks can sculpt your stomach in ways crunches or sit-ups just can’t do. The nice thing about side planks is they can be done in little time and you don’t need any equipment.
Before we get on to how to do them, I just want to add a little incentive…
A Mom with Poor Abdominal Strength is an Accident Waiting To Happen Let’s face it, as your child grows the physical demand placed on your body increases. You start out holding a 8 lb. newborn in your arms, but that quickly changes into holding a 25 lb. toddler who twists and turns quickly.
Hoodia gordonii is no miracle weight loss pill

Hoodia gordonii is no miracle weight loss pill
by: Mike Adams
If you’ve read much about hoodia gordonii—the natural appetite suppressant herb now gaining widespread popularity as a potential weight loss pill—it all sounds rather convincing: lose weight without feeling hungry. What could be easier?
But is it really true?
Let’s take a hard look at the science and reality of using hoodia. First, there’s the problem that there’s only one decent study on hoodia, and it was conducted on a small number of people, all of whom were obese. Even if the results of that study hold out for larger numbers of obese people, it doesn’t mean it will necessarily help people lose that last ten pounds of body fat. As you approach a greater level of fitness, your body chemistry adapts, and going from 20% body fat to 15% is nowhere near as easy as going from, say, 30% to 25%.
Clearly, the science is sparse on hoodia far. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t work, only that the level of research conducted so far does not convince me that hoodia is useful for appetite control across the entire population. We need a lot more research before arriving at that broad conclusion.

After many years he discovered the functional component in Aloe Vera that is responsible for its health-promoting properties. To his surprise, the active ingredient was a carbohydrate with many mannose sugar molecules linked together.
Glaucoma - Understanding the Basics

Glaucoma - Understanding the Basics
by: Anne Wolski
One of the most common causes of blindness for people aged over forty years is glaucoma and it affects around one in fifty people in this age group. People are often unaware that they even have this condition as they may not suffer from any obvious symptoms. Nonetheless, it is important that it is detected early to avoid severe deterioration of sight.
The eye is separated into anterior and posterior chambers by the lens and by a muscle, called the ciliary muscle, which supports it. There is also a structure called the ciliary body which manufactures a fluid called aqueous humor that fills the anterior chamber. This needs to be continuously drained and, when glaucoma is present, this does not happen. This causes pressure in the eyeball to rise, thus causing problems with sight.
There are three major types of glaucoma and they are as follows:
1. Angle closure glaucoma 2. Open angle glaucoma, and 3. Narrow angle glaucoma
The angle is where the iris meets the cornea. It is also where the fluid drains from the eye.

by: Joel Dresse
Cancer is a very deadly disease. This disease is one of the most deadly in terms of numbers killed year in and out. According to statistics one in three people will be affected by cancer. And one in four people will die of cancer. However cancer could be prevented in certain situations. The first step in cancer prevention is learning what causes it and the risk factors involved. Avoiding these risk factors can help a person reduce the likelihood of having cancers.
Here are the following risk factors that a person can avoid to prevent cancer.
1. Tobacco - 30% of all cancer deaths in the United States are caused by smoking. It is also responsible for 87% of all people affected by lung cancer. Aside from the lungs, other organs affected by smoking are pancreas, cervix, kidney, stomach and also cause acute myeloid leukemia. Quit smoking to decrease your chances of having cancer. Also try to avoid secondary smoke, secondary smoke can also be deadlier.
